The 2015 Lush Conferences and Awards were held at The Royal Institute of British Architects and comprised of lectures, seminars and breakout sessions followed by a drinks reception, seated dinner and awards ceremony.
The day was themed around robotics, microfluidics, genetics and computing which was reflected in the design of the changing colour LED Perspex table centres and the microfluidic chip-inspired seating plan. Inflatable skin cells with human protein and antibody models and specialised robotics displays punctuated the clean and minimal Perspex aesthetic. In line with the Ethical Brand and underlying message Fighting Animal Testing, all food and drinks were vegan and waiting staff wore white laboratory coats.
The comedienne and writer, Sarah Pascoe, hosted the award ceremony which celebrated the research efforts and pioneering scientific advancements surrounding non-animal based testing. Prominent and influential scientists, including the astrophysicist and musician, Brian May, joined Sarah on stage to present the awards. There were a total of 14 ceramic Hare trophies awarded by Lush, totalling a massive £150,000 in prize money.
